Al XV° Premio Paolo Borsellino viene ricordato con una Targa alla memoria il sindaco di Pollica Angelo Vassallo assassinato pochi mesi fa nel paese campano che voleva mantenere pulito nell’ambiente e nella politica.
Ritira il premio Dario Vassallo, fratello del sindaco.
Angelo Vassallo, leader of the Democratic Party, was mayor of Pollica 1995-5 September 2010, the day he was killed by people who are still unknown.
The prosecutor Alfredo Greek, investigating officer has suggested that it was commissioned by the mafia in order to punish a state representative who was opposed to illegal practices. A link would be that Vassallo, nicknamed "the mayor fisherman 'because of his activities in the fisheries sector and its desire to protect environment, was seen by the mafia as an obstacle to the control of the port which would guarantee freedom in the illegal drug trade.
A Vassallo was dedicated the film "Welcome to the south."
